Eligibility

Who can apply?

SFS is open to students studying in government or government-aided schools across Tamil Nadu who meet the following basic criteria.

Currently enrolled in Class 9 to Class 12 in a government or government-aided school in Tamil Nadu
Annual family income below Rs. 2,00,000 (verified via income certificate)
Demonstrated interest and willingness to continue education
Valid Aadhaar card and school ID for verification
Recommendation or awareness from the school or a community contact
Priority consideration
Girl students, first-generation learners, students from SC/ST communities, and students from single-parent households receive priority consideration during shortlisting.
Not eligible
Students already receiving full government scholarship support or studying in private unaided schools are not eligible for SFS in the same cycle.
Selection criteria

What we look for

Shortlisting is based on three equally weighted pillars assessed by the SFS committee.

Academic interest
Student's willingness, motivation, and demonstrated interest in continuing their education. Past attendance, engagement with school activities, and stated goals are considered.
Financial need
Evaluation of family background, household annual income, number of dependants, and existing financial challenges. Verified through official income certificates and field visits.
Verification
School and community verification alongside thorough document review by the SFS committee. Field verification is conducted for shortlisted students before final selection.

Every application goes through a structured, multi-stage process to ensure fairness and accuracy.

Student or school submits application via Google Form with required documents.
Committee reviews eligibility based on income, class, and school type.
Documents verified. Field visits conducted for shortlisted students.
A brief interview with the student and guardian to understand goals and situation.
Final list announced. Scholarship and support begins within 30 days.
